The website for Investors, Gamblers, and Economists
You've stumbled upon an investing gambling website of a different sort.
Bill Gross the billionaire trader of PIMCO funds once said that essential to his trading success was that he was (1/3) Gambler, (1/3) Economist, and (1/3) Investor. Many other successful traders would agree. Larry Hite cites a blackjack card counting book as his book on risk management. Blair Hull made about half a billion applying probability concepts he learned from card counting. Warren Buffett once handicapped horses in his "Stable Boy" picks. To this day, Buffett and Bill Gates still play the card game bridge with each other.
You don't have to have an exact third of each quality to become a truly great investor, but the lesson is that all three are important. All three qualities have differences, but knowing their similarities and how they function together is the value from extensive thought.
Investors need to know the fundamentals as well as technical aspects of the market. Gamblers need to understand bankroll limitations and risk rewards. The economists need to understand how macro markets affect personal decisions.
For the truly professional gamblers and investors, you know who you are, this site will exercise reasonable discretion. Some things are best left unsaid.
I don't profess to be a gambling hotshot, market wizard, or economic brain. If anything, I'm resigned to the level of mediocrity. What makes me different (and probably you too) is that I am hungry and motivated.
This website will try to absorb all the qualities discussed into making you and me better analytical thinkers. This is a website for investors, gamblers, and economists. I welcome you to my site.
Sincerely,
